How balanced is my life?

Living a balanced life is crucial to success, growth, and relationships. When you get busy with a project and focus on that one thing, other areas of your life may get left behind. This is fine if you are in the middle of a project and if it happens occasionally.

Focusing on one area of your life to the extent that other areas get ignored becomes a problem if it occurs regularly during the month. This is a daily (and sometimes routine) thing for some people. When your life is out of balance like this, you might lose something or someone.

It is a good idea to often step back a bit and take a “helicopter view” of your life to see what eras might need some urgent attention to get things back into balance for you.

This is where the Wheel of Life can help you. It’s called the Wheel of Life because different areas of your life get mapped out like the spokes of a wheel. This tool gives you a visual representation of different areas of your life, how much attention you are giving each, and where you might need to make a few adjustments.

In this example, the Red line represents where this person is currently in life while doing the exercise.

The Blue line represents where this person wants to be in the various areas of life.

The idea is to start working on the area that needs attention to get your “Current line” more balanced into the shape of a wheel, like with the Blue example.
